We are delighted to announce that Wardley CE Primary School has achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme, launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, which recognises schools for their commitment to the development of sport and competition both within school and across the wider community. We are thrilled to have been recognised for our continued success.
To achieve the Gold Award, schools must demonstrate success in:
• Participation in PE and extra-curricular sport;
• Inter-school competitions and festivals;
• Developing student sports leaders; and
• Building links with local sports clubs.
With a large number of pupils taking part in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of their enthusiasm, dedication and sporting achievements. We would also like to recognise the invaluable contribution of our young volunteers, leaders and officials, who helped make these competitions possible.
We are also committed to developing pupils’ physical literacy — helping children build the confidence, motivation, skills and understanding needed to enjoy being active throughout their lives.
This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff, pupils and pupil leaders, who continue to promote and participate in sport across our school community.
How You Can Support Us
We kindly ask parents and carers to continue encouraging children to:
• Take part in physical activity both at home and at school;
• Attend extra-curricular sports clubs; and
• Support school sporting events wherever possible.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us build a happy, healthy and active school community.
Mr Houston
