The School Day

Our School Day

Our school day is carefully organised to maximise learning time while ensuring children experience a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum.

Children from Reception through to Year 6 are in school for at least 6 hours and 30 minutes each day, from 8.45am to 3.15pm. This provides a school week of 32.5 hours, meeting the Department for Education's expectation for the minimum length of the school week.

School Gates & Classroom Doors Open

The school gates open at 8.30am, when children, parents and carers are welcome to come onto the school site.

Classroom doors from Nursery to Year 6 open at 8.40am, allowing children to come into school, be welcomed by their teachers and settle calmly ready for the day ahead.

The School Day Begins

The school day begins at 8.45am, when the morning register is taken. We ask families to ensure children arrive promptly so that they are ready to begin their learning with their classmates.

Mornings

Our mornings have a strong focus on English and Mathematics, ensuring children develop the essential knowledge and skills they need to succeed.

We also come together each morning for Collective Worship, providing a special time for reflection and giving children opportunities to explore and develop their beliefs and values.

Children also enjoy a 15-minute morning break, providing time to play, socialise and enjoy being outdoors.

Lunchtime

At lunchtime, children can enjoy either a school meal or a packed lunch. We make full use of our playgrounds and school grounds, with lunchtime supervisors and sports coaches supporting children to enjoy happy, active and sociable lunchtimes.

A range of activities is available, including skipping, ball games and other opportunities for active and imaginative play.

Afternoons

Our afternoons provide rich opportunities for learning across the wider curriculum. Children enjoy subjects including Science, Geography, History, Religious Education, Art, Design Technology, PE, Computing, Music, Modern Foreign Languages and PSHE.

The school day finishes at 3.05pm for Nursery and 3.15pm for Reception to Year 6.

After-School Clubs

We offer a wide range of after-school clubs and activities, giving children opportunities to discover new interests, develop their talents and, most importantly, have fun.

Alongside our enrichment clubs, our After-School Club runs from 3.30pm until 5.15pm, providing wraparound care for families.

Please visit our Clubs and Before and After-School Club pages for further information.
