The School Day

Our school day is organised in such a way to provide maximum time for learning across a balanced curriculum.

The children in the Reception to Y6 classes have at least 6 hours 30 minutes in school each day (from 8.45am to 3.15pm) which means that they have a school week that is a minimum of 32.5 hours long. The nursery children have a school day that is 6 hours 10 minutes long (from 8.55am to 3.05pm) which means that they have a school week that is 30 hours and 50 minutes long. The school therefore meets the expectations set by the DfE over the expected length of the school week.

School Gates & Classroom Doors Open

The gates to the school grounds are opened at 8.30am and children, parents and carers are able to come onto the school site. The classroom doors for all the classes from Reception to Y6 are then opened at 8.40am to allow the children to come into class, be greeted by their teacher and get settled in for the day.

School Day Begins

Our school day for all the classes from Reception to Y6 begins at 8:45am, this is the time that the morning register is taken. The school day for the Nursery class starts at 8.55am, this is when the Nursery class door is opened.

Mornings

Our mornings are dedicated to mathematics and English learning. We also hold an act of collective worship every morning of the week. This is a space for children to define their own beliefs and values. The children also enjoy a 15 minute playtime break in the morning.

Lunch Time

Children can enjoy a packed lunch or a school meal. Full use is made of our playgrounds and school grounds. Lunchtime supervisors and sports coaches are trained to support children's play. Activities such as skipping and ball games are available.

Afternoons

The afternoons are filled with learning based on the wider curriculum. Children enjoy subjects such as science, geography, history, religious education, art, design technology, PE, computing, music, modern foreign languages and PSHE. The school day finishes at 3.05pm for our nursery class and at 3.15pm for all the other classes from Reception to Y6.

After School Clubs

After school, we provide an array of activities and clubs for children to participate in. These are a chance for children to explore a hobby and most importantly have fun! In addition to our clubs, our after school club runs from 3:30pm - 5:15pm. Please view our clubs and before/after school club pages for more information.
