A Virtual Harvest in Year 3
This week we are celebrating Harvest with the help of St. Nicholas’ Church in Halewood, Liverpool. We watched their video clips and explored six stations; all relating to harvest. We thought about the significance of each one. We have written some of our thoughts below. Here is the link for you to watch at your leisure.
There are also links to bible stories which tie in with the idea behind each station. Feel free to watch and enjoy them too.
Station 1: ‘The Harvest of the Flock’
Bible Story - The Parable of the Lost Sheep (Luke 15)
‘Wool comes from sheep. They are sheared in spring and the wool is made into jumpers, hats and blankets to keep us warm in winter.’ Mason
Station 2: ‘The Harvest of the Garden’
Bible Story - The Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13)
‘We know that seeds need sunshine, water good soil and plenty of care to grow.’ Blake
‘We have seeds in our bodies and they need care so we can grow up to be kind, learn new things and be a good person.’ Esme O
Station 3: ‘The Harvest of the Earth’
Bible Story - The Potter (Jeremiah 18)
‘Jesus said we are like clay. We can be moulded to be kind and generous.’ Leon
‘The earth can be harvested too by making things from the materials it gives us like clay and stone.’ Athena
Station 4: ‘The Harvest of the Ocean’
Bible Story - The Fisher of Men (John 21)
‘The harvest of the ocean is seafood like fish that you eat with chips on the beach.’ Charlie
‘Jesus told the fishermen to put their nets on the other side of the boat and they caught lots of fish.’ Harvey
‘After that, Simon and Peter followed Jesus because they had faith’ Millie S
Station 5: ‘The Harvest of the Grain’
Bible Story – Feeding of the 5000 (Mark 6)
‘Barley, wheat and oats are all grains. They are used to make beer, cereals, porridge, bread and biscuits.’ Millie K
‘Jesus prayed to God for more fish and bread to feed 5000 people in the desert. It was a miracle.’ Lilly
Station 6: ‘The Harvest of the Thanksgiving’
Bible Story – Moses and the Exodus (Exodus 4)
We have written a thoughtful harvest prayer together. It is attached to the blog.
Year 3 has really enjoyed the virtual harvest celebration and learned so many new things that we can take and use in our own lives.
Happy Harvest Everyone!
