Art and Design in Year 3

Textiles and Collage

Summer Term

This half term, our Year 3 artists are exploring colour, texture and pattern combining textiles and collage.

Our newly acquired skills and knowledge are going to help us create some amazing visual pieces that you can all try at home.

Today, the children enjoyed the experience of investigating dyes made from natural pigments like tea, coffee, turmeric, paprika and gravy powder.

Our artists have used paint brushes on card.

Our artists thought:

‘I enjoyed the different colours that the dyes made’

‘I liked mixing the dyes until they were dissolved’

‘The smells and pigments were lovely’

‘The dyes were like watercolours coming off the brush’

‘The smell made me really hungry like my spices drawer’

‘I love the red colours’

‘The pigments reminded me of autumn leaves’

We have some fabulous artists in Year 3 and I cannot wait to see their collages, Mandala patterns and block prints.

Finally, please look at our amazing photographs.  I will add more after the next session.
