Art in Year 3

Spring Project

‘Around the Circle’ – Wassily Kandinsky

This Autumn, Year 3 has been studying the artist Wassily Kandinsky and have focussed on a piece called ‘Around the Circle’.

Wassily Kandinsky (b. 4 December 1866 - d.13 December 1944) was a Russian artist and a pioneer of abstract art. He was born in Moscow and spent his childhood in Odessa, Ukraine.  Much of his work can be viewed in The Museum of Modern Art in New York, USA.

We have looked at the way he used colours and shape to produce some stunning pieces of artwork.  Using our own thoughts about colour and shape, and accurate cutting skills, we created these superb abstract pieces.

There was some magic teamwork, support and encouragement and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the art experience.

Please feel free to come into school, at the end of the day, to share your child’s masterpiece together.
