Procedure for Uncollected Children

Child not collected by parent / carer after school |
1. School tries to contact parent / carer using the emergency telephone numbers that should be provided. 2. After 3.15pm any uncollected children will be put into the after-school club. If school has been informed of the reason why the child has not been collected on time and it is not a regular occurrence then there will be no cost. However, if it is a repeated issue then parents/carers will be charged for the after-school cover. |

3. School contacts Salford Safeguarding Children’s Board (SSCB) through the Bridge Partnership. If contact is unsuccessful school to contact local police service. 4. School continues to try to make contact with parent / carer and named contacts including visiting address if feasible and appropriate. Please note that if a school has not made contact with the SSCB Bridge Partnership by 4.30pm, calls will be handled by the Emergency Duty Team. |
No contact made with parent / carer by 5pm
Once a pupil has been taken to the SSCB base the pupil is regarded as a “child in need” by Social Care and will be accommodated under Section 20 of the Children Act. As such, the matter will be considered as a child protection issue by Social Care.

5. School acts on guidance from local police/Social Care. If the child needs to be taken to a designated base then if no transport is available a taxi service can be used. School makes appropriate arrangements for staff / escort to accompany pupil to designated base.
