Year 6 World War II Workshop
Date: 24th Oct 2025 @ 11:45am
Life on the Home Front and in the Armed Forces
Our Year 6 children enjoyed an immersive and inspiring workshop that brought both life on the Home Front and conscription into the army during World War II vividly to life.
They took part in a range of engaging educational activities and explored an extensive collection of genuine WWII artefacts — including gas masks, weapons and children's toys. Through these experiences, they gained a memorable insight into the true meaning of community spirit and what life was like for people in Britain during the war, particularly for children.
The day began under the guidance of an ARP Warden, who introduced the period as the country prepared for the possibility of war. When war was declared, the children learned about the roles of the civilian services and experienced what life was like for evacuees.
