Year 3 and 4 Sports Day

Date: 24th May 2022 @ 12:16pm

Today, Year 3 and 4 took part in a fantastic Sports Day.

As the Queen’s Platinum jubilee is fast approaching, each child was part of a Royal team, namely Balmoral, Sandringham, Windsor and Buckingham. Working together, all the children gained points for their Royal House in a number of traditional events.

There was hockey and football dribble, basketball bounce, skipping, sack race, egg and spoon, tennis balance and bean bag toss.

As the photographs show, the children had so much fun taking part in all the events.  There were bonus points given out left, right and centre for sportsmanship and good behaviour.

Here’s what the children in Year 3 thought:

"Sports Day was such good fun because I loved all the events.  My favourite was basketball."

"I loved Sports day and the Sack Race was my favourite."

"When we were skipping I found it hard but I persevered.  I liked the sack race much better."

"I enjoyed when the grown-ups being there because they cheered us on."

Here’s what the children in Year 4 thought:

"I really enjoyed it, especially the basketball.  I kept tripping over in the sack race but I got back up every time."

"I thought the Sports Day was such fun as we all worked together as a team."

"I wasn’t so sure about the sack race as it was really hard but I kept on trying and I got there."

The overall winners are yet to be decided as we have to add the total scores of all the children in KS2. Year 5 and 6 will complete the scoring on their Sports Day this Thursday.  I will say that it is a very close race and any team could win.

Well done to all the teams.  Your behaviour and attitude was brilliant. You performed so well and everyone tried your best.  What more can we ask?

Thank you to a brilliant crowd who came to cheer us on. I hope you enjoyed the morning as much as we did.

We all look forward to seeing you next Summer.

Love from all the staff and children in Year 3 and 4.
