Year 2 Update 19.05.20

Date: 19th May 2020 @ 9:22am

Morning Year 2!

Our theme this week is going to be a history one.  Archie and I have been going on our bike rides to Worsley Canal and Worsley Delph and so I thought it might be nice if you did some research on this lovely piece of local history.  If you have ever visited the canal you will have seen some beautifully decorated canal boats.  Roses and castles was the theme of the folk art that was used to decorate virtually every narrow boat in the 19th century.  So for your creative task, I would like you to design and draw a picture that could be painted on to a canal boat.  Have a look at some of the designs on the Internet and copy one or have a go at designing your own.  If you are going for a family walk or a bike ride you could even, perhaps, venture to the canal to have a look at the boats and their artwork or to simply have a look at the canal itself and Worsley Delph.  If you decide to do the creative artwork task, I would love to see these uploaded over the week.

I have included a PowerPoint here, about canals, to get you started.

Here is a list of everything else available this week:

  • There is a new discussion activity.
  • On Tuesday and Thursday I will add writing tasks.
  • I have added a new list of words to Spellodrome for the week.  Get someone to test you on Friday with the new word list.
  • You have activities to do on Timestable Rockstars
  • Each day I will give you a new mathletics task, remember you have a week to do these.
  • I have uploaded 5 a day activity sheets - there are three, sheets A - C.  You do not have to do all three.  You can pick the one you would like to do.  Choose Sheet A if you want to be more stretched.
  • Maths No Problem (if you want some extra maths activities).  If you choose to access these extra activities, please do Workbook 2B, Chapter 13, Worksheets 6 to 10, over the week.

See you tomorrow

Mrs MacKay :)
