Year 2 Update 03.04.20

Date: 3rd Apr 2020 @ 9:15am

Morning Year 2!

This will be my last blog for a while as it is the Easter Holidays on Monday.  I have given you a couple of Mathletics tasks today.  If you want to, you can still log on to Mathletics, Spellodrome and Rockstars over the holidays.  There won't be new spellings or tasks from me, for the next two weeks, but you can still enjoy playing the games.  See if someone in your house will test you on this week's spellings today.  I bet you will do fantastically well!

Over the holidays, I thought it would be nice for you to do some research and some artwork.  I'd like you to find out all about the artist Henri Matisse.  You can have a go at writing a little biography or factfile about his life.  Then you could have a go at recreating some of his artwork and creating some artwork of your own, in the style of Matisse.

A good place to start is to look on the Tate Kids website - https://www.tate.org.uk/kids

Here you can find out all about Henri Matisse, see some of his artwork and have a go at reproducing a Matisse Snail Collage.  There is also a video on there called 'Meet Matisse' where you can view some of his enormous pieces of art work that are in the Tate Art Gallery.  I think you will have lots of fun exploring this artist and I cannot wait to see your creations!

Things I plan to do over the holidays with Archie

  • get out in the garden
  • go for a walk and a bikeride, as the weather is supposed to be nice
  • read lots of books
  • bake a cake, some cookies and some bread
  • make our own pizza
  • watch a film, whilst drinking hot chocolate with marshmellows
  • play boardgames in the garden
  • decorate a boiled egg for Easter
  • make Easter cards, to send to our family
  • make a Matisse picture
  • exercise in the garden
  • play music and dance around
  • add some wishes to our 'wishes jar' (we have about 15 in there now)

Hope you enjoy doing some of these things too!  Take care and I will write again soon :)
