Anti-Bullying Week

‘Joe the Dreamer’

Last week, the children watched a play called ‘Joe the Dreamer’, which dealt with issues around bullying.

The fantastic performance was presented by The B Tales Group who enacted the bible story of Joseph and his Dreamcoat.  The play was placed in a modern setting where many issues of bullying were highlighted throughout the story.

Today, the children took part in a class workshop that allowed them to address bullying issues first hand.

The children recognised different types of bullying such as physical abuse, name calling, cyber-bullying and ganging up. In order to solve such problems, the importance of empathy, friendship and kindness were highlighted as well as the idea of trust and forgiveness.

These Christian values fit very nicely into ‘The Wardley Way’; especially with our class value of Respect.

The children were fully engaged all the way through the activities; having time to express their thoughts and feelings and creating great freeze-frames in their groups.  They all had lots of fun while benefitting from the main message.
