Nursery 4.5.2020

Date: 4th May 2020 @ 8:25am

Good morning guys :-)

Happy Monday!

I hope that all had a lovely weekend, I wonder what some of you got up to? I had another wonderful weekend filled with dog walks, baking, painting my bedroom and reading my new book!

Book of the week

For this week, I am going to give you another book to read. This is one of my favourite children’s books of all time and I remember reading this story when was little, just like you. It’s called ’Elmer’ by David McKee and is all about a patchwork, multi—coloured  elephant. I’ve found a great video of it being read by the author himself here:

Creative challenge

In this story, Elmer learns that being different from everybody else makes you specia and uniquel! Therefore, your creative activity for this week is to think about what makes you special and unique! I want you to make a picture of yourself. You might use paints or felt tips or even make your picture using a collage of different materials. Then, I want you to think about all the things that make you unique (ask Mummy or Daddy to write them around your picture). The things that make you special could be what you like doing, what you’re good at or even just how you look!

Phonics

This week on the Read Write Inc You Tube channel, they are also streaming sound lessons for the set 1 sounds that we are up to in Nursery:

Monday: v, Tuesday: y, Wednesday: w, Thursday, z

If you haven’t yet seen them, they are here and available everyday at 9.00am. If you miss them, or aren’t ready at 9.00, they stay on there for 24 hours.

Class discussion

I will also start a new class discussion if anybody would like to share anything with their friends. Some people have been using it as a place to tell their friends what they have been doing at home, some have used it to share photos of their creative challenges and some have just used it to say hello! All comments are welcome as it has been lovely so say hello to you on there!

Have a great day :-)
