Monday 27th April

Date: 27th Apr 2020 @ 8:49am

Good morning

It’s Monday, I think…

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. It’s been so nice to see such bright blue skies recently :-)

Apparently the reason why the sky has been so blue is because people haven't been using their cars as much. This means there has been less pollution in the air which means less haze (fuzziness). Therefore, we are able to see the sky more clearly.

What to do

Everybody to sit in a circle. They can volunteer amusing and far-fetched ways of completing the sentence stem ‘I’m so cross I could…’

give them some examples such as:

  • roar louder than a lion
  • jump up and down as high as a mountain
  • scream loud enough for them to hear me in Australia
  • shout my socks off.

Tell your child/children one of the best antidotes to anger is laughter. Perhaps when they feel angry they could think of one of these examples instead.

Families

Share The Family Book by Todd Parr.

Reinforce with your child that there are all sorts of different types of families and that that is OK. Ask your child why we have families and draw out that they are there to love and protect us. Explain that all children have the right to be cared for and protected.

Who is in your family?

Invite your child to draw/make and label a picture/model of their family. I would normally use these to create a display in the classroom. Maybe you could display it somewhere in the house? Ensure that your child feels their family situation is accepted and with no one family situation being seen as the ‘norm.’

Ask your child to think, or talk about who is important to them in their family and to share the feelings they have when they are with them. Scribe your child’s feelings in a thought shower, e.g. relaxed, safe, happy.

Finally, get your child to add and complete the following sentence stem to their poster or model.

My family is special because...

So Team, there is lots of work to keep you busy. It is important that you have fun with the work and also go and out and play.

Joke of the Day

How do all the oceans say hello to each other?

They wave!

Lots of love Ms Hoque xx
