04.02.22 COLLECTIVE WORSHIP - GOD

Date: 4th Feb 2022 @ 4:28pm

Over this half-term we are looking at the Christian value of justice. In our collective worship this week we listened to the Bible story about Jonah and thought about how we can help someone who has done something wrong make better choices. The children, as always, had some fantastic ideas:

‘If someone threw rubbish on the floor I could help them to make better choices by showing them where a bin was and telling them about making everywhere clean for everybody.’ Bobby Y2.

‘We can help someone make better choices by getting them to think before they act and encourage them to say and do kind things.’ Lexi Y4.

‘We could show the right choices to the person who did the wrong thing. We could show them the consequences that could happen and tell them to stop what they are doing.’ Hollie Y5.

‘We could ask them calmly about why they did that and get them to reflect on their actions. We could also tell them how to approach it, if it happened again.’ Annie Y6.

The Y3 children wrote the words for our prayer this week:

Dear God,

Teach me justice,

Standing up for others,

Helping with their problems.

Teach me justice,

Supporting charities,

Donating money to those in need.

Teach me justice,

Making others feel included,

Like Jesus did with Bartimaeus.

Teach me justice,

Helping others make good choices,

Like how God taught Jonah.

Amen

I am sure that you will agree that the children have done fantastically well in expressing their thoughts about this value. It is also lovely to see the way that they translate their ideas into actions and the way that they treat each other in school throughout each day.
