  • World Book Day

    Published 07/03/19, by David Foster

To celebrate World Book Day th children at Wardley all dressed up as their favourite book character. There was a whole plethora of characters resplendent in costumes both bought and home-made. We had a special assembly to announce two winners from each class and then an overall winner was picked from those two. It was a brilliant day and many thanks goes to all our parents and pupils for putting in such an effort. Amazing!

  • Reading Buddies

Some of our Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6  children are taking part in 'The Reading Buddy' scheme. The scheme is run by the Salford Educational Psychology Service and involves some of our wonderful Year 6 children working on language skills with some of our Year 1 and 2 children. The older children receive training from the service and then present a series of well-thought activities  with their 'reading buddy'. The scheme has always worked well and has seen all those involved, both the younger and the older children make lots of progress in a plethora of ways.

  • Art Club

    Art Club at Wardley

Art is thriving at Wardley.  Children from KS2 are challenging their creative skills through pencil sketches, painting, collages and have even had a snapshot of photography.

Last year, the children studied the theme of ‘shells’ and, as the photographs show, the results were magnificent. We are blessed with some very gifted and talented artists.

So far, this term, we have learned how to draw plants and have developed our knowledge of line, pattern and shade. Already, the artwork is quite spectacular.

“We learn new things each week like drawing details and using bright colours to paint negative and positive space. We love pencil drawing and being taught how to draw”

Hannah, Olivia, Mia, Erin and Mollie (Y3)

“I like the drawing and colouring, especially with plants.  I enjoyed painting my repeated plant picture.”

    Luis and Larissa (Y4)

“Art club is brilliant for lots of reasons. We learn to draw things we don’t think we can draw, we do loads of loads of cool things like shading and best of all we sometimes get biscuits.”

Lexie, Ruby, Charlie, Erin, Aaron and Imogen (Y5)

“It’s a really good way to calm down after a busy day at school. I am always surprised at what I can do.”

    Leila, Lexi and Faith (Y6)

As we have studied natural forms, we will be looking next to expand our knowledge and skills by studying man-made structures.  Watch this space…

  • Christmas Fair

    Published 10/12/18, by David Foster

On Thursday, Wardley held its Christmas fair after school. The response from parents was brilliant and we raised over £800. The stalls sold out very quickly and there was a very positive and jovial atmosphere throughout. Many thanks goes to all our parents who donated gifts for the stalls for each of our non-uniform days. Also a big thanks to Jayne and Lauren Davenport who worked tirelessly to put it all together.
