Roald Dahl Day

Year 6 read, ‘The Magic Finger’ to celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday. After reading (and thoroughly enjoying the text) we discussed the actions of the girl with the magic finger…was she right to purposefully use her magic to teach people a lesson?

After an interesting debate, the majority of the class decided that they felt she was right to use her powers to teach people a lesson as her actions changed their attitudes (in this case towards God’s creatures) and made them think about future actions. However, there were a few of us who felt that she was wrong to purposefully use her powers to inflict consequences on others as we felt that she shouldn’t have the right to do this.

It proved to be a VERY interesting debate!
